Timeless Elegance in Every Sip

The vineyard that produces every bottle of Nickel Family wine has been established on land that has been owned and tended by our family for over 150 years. The tradition in stewardship of the land is carried on with every bottle we produce.

2015 Zinfandel

Bright, forward fruit dominates this fruit-driven Zin, with flavors of blackberry, boysenberry, and black cherry harmonizing with sandalwood, pepper and spice. The wine is balanced and harmonious with a medium cedar finish. A bright garnet color sparkles in the glass. Six years old, and still going strong! $15/bottle.

2016 Zinfandel

This wine is delightfully focused and classically Zinfandel, with intense bright berry aromas and flavors – cranberries, pomegranate – and layers of complexity – cacao, cinnamon, leather and tobacco. Balanced and harmonious, the wine had a medium to long finish that called for another sip. It, too, had a bright garnet color, sparkling and inviting.

2017 Zinfandel

This was a wet year, and the resulting grapes gave the wine a much more opulent mouthfeel, softer with a velvety finish. The generous berry flavors had an undercurrent of cloves and cinnamon. The winemaker did a great job showcasing Mother Nature’s vintage generosity yet preserving the vineyard pedigree. Balanced and harmonious, this wine has a darker, ruby hue with delightful aromatics.

2018 Zinfandel

Big, bold, fruit forward Zinfandel. Great balance, medium/high acidity which makes it easy to pair with foods like tri-tip because it cuts through the protein and fat; makes you want to keep coming back for more! Bright ruby red in color, beautiful berry & spice nose, with a palate packed full of red and dark berries, medium tannins and juicy acidity. Like all great Zinfandels, this wine has a mixture of ripe, jammy and dried fruit since Zinfandel grapes ripen differently on the vine giving a complex fruit profile. Vanilla-oak spice adds further complexity and depth producing a wine that is approachable now with the capability to cellar and soften over the next handful of years. Very delightful!
